New families guide

Use this page when you are enrolling a student for the first time. The MetroLacrosse Boston homepage still lists season tiles and news, while player registration holds the forms you will submit after you pick a program block.

MetroLacrosse and Harlem Lacrosse-Boston athletes at an outdoor team event

Before the first practice

  1. Confirm age and season. Open the spring, summer, or fall and winter pages from the homepage so session dates match your school calendar.
  2. Complete online registration. The player registration hub collects waivers, emergency contacts, and photo releases Harlem Lacrosse-Boston needs for bus lists and gym check-in.
  3. Read the mission note. Our Mission and History explains how MetroLacrosse merged into Harlem Lacrosse-Boston so expectations about classroom support and study blocks stay clear.
  4. Ask about gear loaners. Many sites keep helmets and shoulder pads on hand for new players. Note your child's size on the registration form so staff can set aside matching bags before week one.

What families bring on day one

Athletes should wear molded cleats when turf is scheduled, mouthguards labeled with their name, and water bottles that close tightly inside school bags. Cotton hoodies work for early spring nights, while winter indoor runs need court shoes when directors move drills into the gym.

If you plan to volunteer on the sideline, review Volunteer Coach for background check timing so you can ride the team bus when programs allow it.

Quick answers

When are fees due? Each season page lists whether a site runs a free clinic series or collects a materials fee. Registration receipts email automatically once the form posts.

Can siblings share equipment? Helmets should never be shared because fit foam compresses to one head. Sticks can be borrowed short term, but coaches prefer every player own a pocket they can string to their own release point.

Where do I send medical updates? Use the contact paths on the homepage Meet Our Team menu so messages reach the Boston program desk that updates rosters nightly.
